When requested to carry out surveys of or upgrades to fire doors, Doorway Technical Centre is regularly asked whether they would be able to provide work in keeping with the current design. Especially so with heritage or listed buildings, DTC is generally able to provide doors which not only match the existing design but meet all the regulations – fire, smoke, acoustic, accessibility.
It is often found that an existing door cannot feasibly be upgraded to current performance standards, particularly those of joinery construction in panelled designs.
Rather than replace the door with a modern flush variety, not at all in keeping with the surrounds, DTC can replicate the outward design while at the same time introducing a unique, unseen internal construction that brings it fully into line with today’s requirements for fire resistance, smoke control and sound reduction capabilities. Glass panels can be replicated or introduced as a further safety feature, again without compromising the necessary protection against fire, smoke and sound transmission.
